Mod Features & Behavior

Understanding how Item Glow reacts to your gameplay is key to mastering its customization options.

The Visibility Logic

The core of Item Glow is its intelligent visibility system. I've designed it to stay out of your way until you actually need to see your item's data.

Constant Visibility

If enabled in the config, the HUD will never fade out. This is useful for players who want a permanent RPG-style dashboard.

How the Fade Timer Works

By default, the HUD uses a Fade Timer (default: 2.0s). This timer is triggered by several game events:

  • Item Swap: Switching between items in your hotbar resets the timer.
  • Durability Change: Using a tool or taking damage resets the timer to show your current status.
  • Inventory Change: Moving items into your active slots triggers a visibility pulse.

Once the timer expires, the HUD performs a smooth cubic-ease-out animation to fade into transparency.

Armor HUD System

Item Glow isn't just for tools. It includes a comprehensive Armor HUD that tracks all four equipment slots simultaneously.

Durability Tracking

Every armor piece displays its health as a dynamic color-shifting bar directly next to the item icon.

The Peek Mechanic

Hold the 'H' key (customizable) to "peek" at your armor's enchantments without opening your inventory.

Performance Note

The Armor Peek feature uses a cached rendering system to ensure that looking at complex enchantment lists doesn't drop your FPS.

Animation Systems

I've implemented several micro-animations to make the HUD feel "alive":

Animation Trigger Description
Slide-In Item Switch The HUD slides up from the bottom when appearing.
Durability Pulse Low Durability The background flashes red when an item is below 20% health.
Info Rotation Multiple Enchants If an item has many enchantments, they cycle smoothly every few seconds.
